La Banda Loca
La Banda Loca is a lively merengue music group that emerged from the vibrant Latin music scene in New York City in 1990. The band was founded by singers Elvis Classe, Osvaldo Peralta, and Luis Rafael Inoa, who came together with a shared passion for the upbeat, dance‑driven rhythms of merengue. From the beginning, La Banda Loca’s high‑energy performances and catchy hooks helped them stand out in the competitive Latin dance music market of the early 1990s.

They made their recording debut in 1992 with the album Locuras, quickly followed by Mas Locuras later that year. The band continued releasing popular merengue albums throughout the early and mid‑1990s, including La La La La Loca (1993) and Incontrolable (1994). Their growing popularity culminated in winning the Association Cronistas de Espectáculos award as New York’s most popular merengue group, a recognition of their impact on the city’s Latin music scene.

Over the years, La Banda Loca became known for their party‑ready anthems and dancefloor favorites, such as Locos de Remate and Mas Locos Que Nunca (1996), which showcased their energetic arrangements and charismatic vocal style. Their music helped keep merengue vibrant and relevant throughout the 1990s, making them a memorable act for fans of the genre.
