Cubana All Stars
Cubana All Stars is a collaborative musical project that brought together a large ensemble of distinguished Cuban musicians and vocalists from across the island’s rich salsa and timba traditions. The concept was realized in the early 2010s as a way to unite top talent, many of whom were celebrated solo performers or leaders of their own bands, into one all‑star orchestra. This collective was assembled to record the double‑album A Dream Come True, which was laid down in Havana at the historic EGREM Studios with the support of Cuban music institutions and producers.
The group’s debut project on December 3, 2012, featured 38 of Cuba’s most respected artists performing a variety of salsa and timba pieces that showcased both their individual strengths and cohesive ensemble sound. With Producer, Richie Viera, and Executive Producer, Ralph Cartagena, along with other musical directors coordinating the effort, the ensemble’s recording sessions celebrated the island’s long history of dance music and the virtuosity of its performers. Tracks like Prepárate Pa’ Lo Que Traigo and El Son de la Madrugada highlighted the blend of rhythmic sophistication and vibrant vocal interplay that defined the orchestra’s sound.
Musicians on A Dream Come True included prominent figures like Issac Delgado, Eliades Ochoa, Paulito FG, Mayito Rivera, Haila Mompié, and Alexander Abreu, among others. The ensemble also drew on instrumentalists, arrangers, and session players from the island’s vibrant music scene, reflecting a cross‑section of Cuba’s contemporary salsa and timba artistry coming together in a single collaborative showcase.
